Ellon is an attractive town on the banks of the River Ythan, a great location for wildlife spotting, with a population of around 10,000.  Farming forms a large part of the local economy, as does fishing and the oil industry.

The area is rich in history with many National Trust and Historic Scotland properties to explore, Haddo House is a stunning Victorian stately home boasting lakes and a deer park in its grounds. Outdoor interests include unspoilt beaches, harbours, wildlife, shooting, fishing, walking, cycling and riding to name but a few. There is a sports centre offering a gymnasium, all-weather football/hockey/rugby pitches, group classes, a sports hall and squash courts.  For outdoor enthusiasts there is plenty of opportunity for walking, cycling, shooting, fishing, riding and golf. 

Ellon has a good sense of community still advocating old fashioned values which is clear if you take time to get involved in any of the clubs run locally.  You could to learn to bowl, dance, martial arts, golf, football - the list is long, for adults or kids.

With the provision of a "park and ride" facility, travel by bus to larger centres such as Aberdeen is hassle free with free parking on-site, a waiting room, bike parking and toilets.
